The mission of the Janet Kahn School of Integrated Arts is to instill an artist’s approach to learning so students will be able to take intentional risks to ask probing questions, and explain, justify, analyze, critique and create answers to complex, interdisciplinary problems through both an independent and collaborative approach to learning.
Celebrate the art of learning!
Who was Janet Kahn?
In 1996, educator Janet Kahn was given the task to create an art and music program for the elementary school students of APS. She expanded the program from 22 teachers to roughly 100 teachers who offer the gift of music and art to our district’s youngest students. Janet transformed nothing into something special. She often said this was the hardest and the most rewarding work she had ever done.
Janet was a dreamer and a doer, an innovator and an educator. She was a soft voice and a huge presence. Janet lost her battle to a rare form of cancer on January 15, 2016 at the age of 68. We celebrate Janet's memory by naming our school in her honor, and by continuing to offer outstanding arts education to the students of Albuquerque Schools.
The state is implementing an new Kindergarten assessment for the 2016-17 school year called, the Kindergarten Observation Tool (KOT). For information about this new assessment that Eubank teachers will be administering, please visit this website. More information about the assessment will be forthcoming.
